Junk Man Cash for Cars

Questions people ask before selling

Short answers about selling a junk car to Junk Man Cash for Cars: titles, offers, towing, pickup and payment.

Before you sell

Is cash for cars legit?

Yes, buying unwanted cars for their parts and metal is an ordinary, legitimate business. What matters is the buyer in front of you. Before you sell to anyone, check that the offer is based on your car's real details, that towing costs are clear up front, that you know exactly when you'll be paid, and that you get paperwork for the sale. Here, the tow is free and payment comes at pickup.

What kinds of cars do you buy?

Junk vehicles of every kind and every condition: cars, pickups, vans and SUVs that won't start, wrecks, flood- and fire-damaged ones, stripped shells, rusted-out bodies, and high-mileage vehicles that are worn out. We're not a buyer for good used cars headed for resale.

Do I need the title to sell my car?

The title is simplest. Without it, we can still help: list the paperwork you do have (bill of sale, registration, insurance card) and we'll check it against Illinois rules for scrap sales when we call.

What areas do you pick up in?

All of Chicago, the Chicagoland suburbs in Cook, DuPage and Will Counties including Joliet and Aurora, and Northwest Indiana as far as Gary: Hammond, Whiting, East Chicago, Munster, Highland, Griffith, Gary, Merrillville, Hobart, Lake Station and New Chicago.

The offer

How do you decide what to offer?

From the year, make, model and title status in the form, plus what you tell us about the car's condition: whether it runs, what's damaged, what's missing. We're pricing what's still there: the body, the working parts and the metal.

Can you give me a price online?

Not a fixed one. Every car is different, so we call you with an offer once we have the details. Send the form and we'll call within 15 minutes of your request.

Will the offer change when you see the car?

It shouldn't, as long as the car matches what you described. Mention the big things up front, like a seized engine, flood water inside, deployed airbags or missing parts.

Am I obligated to accept the offer?

No. Getting an offer costs nothing and commits you to nothing. Take it, think about it, or say no.

Pickup and payment

Do you charge for towing?

No. The tow is on us, and your offer isn't trimmed to cover it.

When do I get paid?

At pickup, as the car is collected: cash, or straight to your phone by Zelle, Cash App or another app, whichever you prefer.

How long is an offer good for?

It doesn't run out. The number we give you stands with no deadline, so you can take your time deciding.

Can you take more than one car?

Yes. One visit can clear several cars from the same place; mention how many when we call.

Stuck at the mechanic or parked in a complex lot?

Yes. A mechanic's lot, an apartment complex or an HOA lot all work. You sort out access or permission with whoever runs the lot, and we handle the tow.

What hours do you work?

Trucks roll from 6 in the morning to 9 at night, seven days a week, on Chicago (Central) time.

How soon can you pick the car up?

Same-day pickup is often possible. We'll set a time with you when you accept the offer.

Does someone need to meet the tow truck?

Plan for someone to meet the driver. The paperwork changes hands and you're paid at pickup, so somebody needs to be there for both.

Still wondering? Ask us on the call. Fill in the car first and we'll ring you with a number.
