Junk Man Cash for Cars

How selling your car to us works

Four steps, the same for every car we buy in Chicago, whether it's dead in the driveway, wrecked or just worn out.

How does selling a junk car to Junk Man work?

You send the car's year, make, model and title status, plus where it is. We call you with an offer. If you accept, we schedule a pickup, often the same day, and tow the car for free. You're paid at pickup. No repairs, no listings, no strangers test-driving it.

  1. Describe the car in the form

The quote form comes in two parts. Part one is the car itself: its year, make and model, and whether the title is in your hands. Part two is you: your name, your phone number and where the car is. That's everything we need to price it.

Use the car's real details. If you're unsure of the year, check the registration or the sticker in the driver's door jamb.

  2. We phone you with a number

We'll call within 15 minutes of your request with an offer. We may ask a few quick questions first: does it start, does it roll, is anything major missing or damaged, where exactly is it parked.

Answer them straight. The offer is built on what you tell us, so an accurate description is what keeps the number the same at pickup. You're free to take it, think about it or say no.

  3. Choose when the truck comes

If you accept, we set a time that works for you. The trucks run from 6 in the morning to 9 at night, any day of the week, and same-day pickup is often possible.

Tell us about access: a narrow alley, a garage door that only opens by hand, a gate, a car boxed in at the curb. The driver plans the tow around it.

  4. We tow it, you get paid

The tow truck comes to the car. There's no towing bill, and nothing is subtracted from your offer for the tow.

You hand over the paperwork and get paid on the spot, in cash, or straight to your phone by Zelle, Cash App or another app. Then it's gone.

Pickup-day checklist

  • The title, or the papers we agreed on during the call (Illinois rules decide which work without a title)
  • Everything personal out of the car: glovebox, console, trunk, under the seats
  • The keys, if you still have them
  • A clear way in for the truck: gate open, alley clear, cars moved if you can
  • Someone there to meet the driver and hand over the paperwork

What we can and can't promise

We can promise free towing, payment at pickup, an offer that doesn't expire, and a call back after you send the form. Same-day pickup is often doable, and one trip can take several vehicles. We can't tell you a price before we know the car, and we won't pretend a good running car is worth only junk money: if yours is in good shape, a private sale will likely pay more.

Questions people ask before selling covers titles, paperwork and pickup in more detail.
